Colorado State

The State of Colorado contains many paddling opportunities. When it comes to class V the options are extensive as well. The problem is the seasonality; usually the season is strong from May to July. Some runs like the Colorado River and Arkansas are completely enjoyable in August, some like Gore into November.

Wisconsin

North there are plenty of sick creeks that flow into the lakes from mild to super hairy. Northwoods Whitewater is the new guidebook that is laid out super well and would be a good idea to pick up for a huckers guide to this area. www.sangfroidpress.com/northwoods.htm Or check out the online resource for the area www.paddleguides.com/rivers/midwest/

New Mexico

This state has some intense and challenging whitewater in the spring, if the snow pack is ample. The amount of trash, tires, old appliances at the put in and take out may remind you of the dump. Just keep on walking down into the unpolluted canyon.

North Carolina

If it rains or you have releases to enjoy, North Carolina's central and western mountains provide a playground for the whitewater enthusiast. With smooth rock and plenty of rainfall, you want to keep an eye out for good levels and take a pilgrimage back to this state.

Idaho

The Whitewater State is just that from April until releases on the Payette stop. Pushy to low volume, the creeks and rivers of Idaho are too many to probably even hit in one season. The multi-day class 4/5 options are excellent choices as well. If you really think you have it dialed go to the north fork and try the vertical mile, three 15 mile laps in one day.

Wyoming

Don't get me wrong, there is tons of boating in Wyoming. There are also a lot of cowboys up there who don't like boaters. The snake, the wind range, and the Tetons are fabulous. Big water to pushy little creeks, they have it all. There is a lot of hiking access runs in the wind so get a yak back or some sort of carrying device if you want to hike in and boat some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Utah

Don't be fooled by the Mormons, they are harboring tons of great whitewater. We love the national park boating? I think there have been too many trips to Salt Lake City and not enough to go boating in the Spring. The meandering Colorado provides numerous sections (some permitted) to explore. Many creeks are to be had as well.
